Isn’t a partial withdrawal just a regular return?
Not legally. A regular return is handled under your returns policy and you can set your own conditions for what that requires. A withdrawal is a separate legal right: the customer changes their mind, within 14 days of taking possession, with no obligation to give a reason. Crucially, you cannot deny a withdrawal. Even if the product has been used, is not in its original packaging, or shows signs of wear – the customer has the right. You may be able to deduct for diminished value, but you cannot refuse. The rules also differ on refund timing, shipping costs, and documentation. Treating withdrawal and returns as the same flow creates compliance risk.
